I’m the guy you call when you absolutely, positively hate doing the books
2:30pm. Thursday March 31st, 2022. I was outside, beret on my head, sunglasses on my face and my spring coat on for that surprise, warm sprinter* day. I was leaning up against my car, looking up towards the sun and soaking up the warmth and the rays like the flowers in my garden.
“I owe HOW much in HST? You’ve got to be kidding – I don’t have that in the bank”. My client stared at the report in shock. We had finally straightened out his past-due federal Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) return. Now that he knew what he owed – he needed to figure out how he was going to pay it–since he’d already spent the money he’d collected. Oops.
